MODELLING IDEAS[pg99-100]

Models are use to :

♥check the proportion of different parts of the design
♥ help visualise the form of a design
♥test the mechanism
♥OR get feedback from other's about the appearance of a design to improve on it . :D

DESIGN CONSIDERATION

1) Users
-who are the users .?

-How would they be using it ?

-what would they value the solution for ?

2) Function

-what does the product have to do ?

- are there any special features that the design must incoporate ?e.g waterproof..

3)Aesthatic

Does the product :

- require a special appearance ?

-need it to have an ergonomic form ?

-surface patterned or texture ?

4) MAterials
-any special material needed ?
-wiill maintanence be a problem >
-any safety issue ?
-material cost ? you may consider to use diamonds ;D

5)$$$$ COST $$$$

-how mucuh budget ?

-will the product be so ? how much is plp willing to pay .?

-can be used ti explore ergonomic

*mechanical MODEL
-used to check if the mechanism work as expected

-decide on the materials you N how the part fit together
-recorded in your design journal

SUMMARY

-record your ideas using sketches and short notes in your design journal
-start by recording as many ideas as you can think of.
-Do not spend too much time on 1 idea , it's nt worthit ! xD
- brainstorm AGAIN to generate MORE ideas
-refer to your research for inspiration and decision making.

-use a comparison table to help you chose an idea to develop
-refer to your design specification so that the idea you choose will meet the requirements.
-consider the design factors when you are developing the chosen idea.
-Develop an idea by making use of information technology where appropriate
-use models , if necessary to quickly check an idea ,
explore and work out how part will fit together and what materials will be use for your idea.
